AWTG brought its innovation to life at Connected Britain 2025 with a fully operational private 5G live demonstration on the exhibition floor. Running on OFCOM-licensed N77 mid-band spectrum, the live demonstration showcased the performance and reliability of our FlexRAN platform, delivering consistent, high-quality throughput and resilient connectivity for enterprise and public sector applications.
Alongside FlexRAN, AWTG presented a live demonstration of our Kai AI Platform, which integrates pre-trained AI agents for both general enterprise functions (such as customer service, HR, and bid support) and telecom-specific use cases. The demo highlighted how Kai enables organisations to enhance efficiency, streamline workflows, and deliver proactive, intelligent engagement while keeping human oversight at the centre.
One of the highlights of the event was the announcement that CORE HDD (Cambridgeshire Open RAN Ecosystem), with AWTG as Technical Lead Partner, received the Smart Places Award during the Connected Britain Awards. This recognition reflects how the project is redefining urban infrastructure using Open RAN, AI, and shared assets to enhance mobility, public services, and community resilience. For AWTG, this award affirms our vision of smart places as not just connected, but intelligent, efficient, and sustainable.
Beyond CORE HDD, AWTG is honoured that several of our other projects, Borderlands 5G Innovation Region, England’s Connected Heartland, and SCONDA, were shortlisted across multiple categories. Each of these initiatives demonstrates a different facet of how advanced connectivity is transforming transport, tourism, rural access, and dense urban environments. To be recognised across such a diverse range of categories is both a privilege and a testament to the breadth of AWTG’s expertise.
We extend our thanks to DSIT for its support and funding, and to our partners and visitors who engaged with us at Stand 113. Their collaboration and feedback are instrumental in shaping solutions that respond to real-world needs and deliver meaningful impact.
Looking ahead, AWTG will continue to drive innovation in 5G, Open RAN, and AI, with a focus on creating smarter, greener, and more connected communities. From enabling the foundations of smart cities to enhancing enterprise efficiency and strengthening digital trust, our mission is to design networks and platforms that are not only intelligent but also inclusive and sustainable. With every project, we move closer to a future where connectivity empowers people, businesses, and society as a whole.
