AWTG was proud to take part in the recent private demonstration held at Millbrook Proving Ground as the Technology and Delivery Partner for the England’s Connected Heartland (ECH) programme. This milestone event showcased the capabilities of our 5G Mobile Private Network, which is set to be deployed along the Bicester–Bletchley section of East West Rail line.

The demonstration featured high-speed testing of the 5G Standalone infrastructure, simulating real-world rail environments using an electric vehicle travelling at 100mph. It also included handovers between private network, public mobile operator coverage, and satellite connectivity highlighting how resilient, uninterrupted connectivity can be delivered for passengers and operations across regional rail networks.

Working in close collaboration with our ECH partners and with support from DSIT, AWTG continues to push the boundaries of innovation in digital infrastructure helping shape the future of smart, connected transport in the UK.
