AWTG Leads Milestone Open RAN Deployment in Glasgow

AWTG has successfully led the roll-out of a large-scale Open RAN network in Glasgow, marking a significant milestone in the UK’s journey toward open and interoperable telecom infrastructure. Delivered under the SCONDA (Small Cells ORAN in Dense Areas) programme, the project represents the World’s first real-world Open RAN deployment in a live brownfield High Demand Dense MNO environment.

This deployment showcases AWTG’s deep capabilities in designing, integrating, and managing cutting-edge network technologies. By enabling O-RAN connectivity in a live MNO brownfield environment, AWTG continues to advance its vision of more accessible, flexible, and intelligent digital infrastructure.

The Glasgow deployment sets a strong precedent for future Open RAN rollouts and reaffirms AWTG’s role as a leading innovator in the telecoms sector.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) for their support in making this deployment possible and for their ongoing commitment to advancing digital infrastructure in the UK.
