AWTG and Lime Microsystems Announce Strategic Partnership to Deliver AI/ML‑Powered Software‑Defined Radio Solutions

AWTG Ltd, a UK‑based technology solutions provider with deep expertise in systems integration, software engineering and Artificial Intelligence, and Lime Microsystems, the UK innovator behind some of the world’s most widely adopted open source Software‑Defined Radio (SDR) platforms, today announced a strategic partnership to bring Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) capabilities to the LimeSDR ecosystem.

Lime Microsystems has long been at the forefront of SDR innovation. Its platforms are built on Lime’s flexible RF technology roadmap, which includes the LMS7002M transceiver for sub‑6 GHz applications and the newer LMS8001 wideband RF front end, enabling frequency coverage of up to 10.5 GHz. This architecture powers the LimeSDR family, from the compact LimeSDR Mini 2.0 to higher‑performance platforms used across 5G, Open RAN, satellite communications, and advanced research applications.

With more than 20,000 LimeSDR users worldwide, the platform has become a trusted foundation for innovation across academia, industry, and the public sector. All hardware design files, FPGA gateware, firmware, and APIs are open source and supported by the global MyriadRF developer community.

Through the partnership, AWTG will build on Lime’s hardware foundation to deliver an AI/ML intelligence layer across the LimeSDR platform. This includes end‑to‑end development of signal‑processing pipelines, AI model integration, system validation, and deployment in live environments. Use cases will include real‑time signal detection and classification at the RF edge, cognitive radio systems for autonomous spectrum optimisation, Open RAN integration, and intelligent edge radio deployments spanning transport, smart cities, ports, defense, connected health, and Industry 4.0.

“Lime Microsystems has built an open and highly adaptable radio platform that is already trusted by engineers and innovators worldwide,” said Abbey Alidoosti, CEO of AWTG. “By combining this foundation with AWTG’s experience in AI, systems integration, and deployment at scale, we can deliver practical, AI‑native radio solutions that solve real‑world problems.”

“AWTG’s depth in systems integration, artificial intelligence and software engineering makes them a strong partner in extending the capabilities of LimeSDR,” said Dr. Ebrahim Bushehri, CEO of Lime Microsystems. “Together, we aim to unlock new opportunities for software‑defined radio across commercial, public‑sector, and industrial markets.”

“The AI driven synergy between AWTG and Lime Microsystems offers a natural, integrated solution for Telecoms and Satcom applications, combining the strengths of software defined technologies and artificial intelligence to deliver sector focused innovation.” said Dr. Mike Short, Chairman of AWTG.

Support from DSIT, UKRI, and Innovate UK over the past four years has enabled AWTG and Lime Microsystem to work together at the leading edge of emerging technologies, translating that investment into tangible economic opportunity through the development of UK-based AI/ML-powered Software-Defined Radio solutions. Building on this foundation, the partnership will initially focus on the UK market, with plans to expand internationally through our established presence across Europe, Asia, and North America.
