CORE HDD Shortlisted for Small Cell Forum Awards 2025

The CORE HDD consortium, with AWTG as a technical lead partner, has been shortlisted for the Outstanding Contribution to Emerging Technologies category at the Small Cell Forum (SCF) Mobile Network Awards 2025. The consortium, led by Cambridgeshire County Council’s digital connectivity programme Connecting Cambridgeshire includes BenetelGooiiOntixWolfram, and the University of Surrey, who worked closely with the University of Cambridge and Cambridge City Council.

This recognition celebrates the deployment of the UK’s first city-centre pure Open RAN network in Cambridge—an innovation that blends AI-powered automation, immersive AR streaming, and intelligent infrastructure. AWTG’s leadership in engineering design, deployment, and delivery has been instrumental in bringing this groundbreaking initiative to life, advancing the future of scalable, next-generation connectivity.

As part of the event, AWTG will also participate in a panel discussion on deployment best practices and exhibit its cutting-edge engineering services at the Small Cells World Summit 2025, taking place on 3–4 June at the Pullman London St Pancras. The awards ceremony will be held on 3 June.
