AWTG and the rest of the Borderlands 5G Innovation Region Team to Attend Glebe Park Christmas Markets

AWTG is delighted to be part of the Borderlands 5G Innovation Region team attending the Glebe Park Christmas Market on Sunday, 1st December 2024. The Borderlands is one of ten 5G Innovation Regions benefiting from a £36 million fund from the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). This initiative is part of the Government’s vision for communities across the UK to fully exploit the transformative potential of advanced wireless connectivity and digital technologies.

AWTG and the Borderlands 5G Innovation Region team will demonstrate the innovations on advance wireless technology that will be deployed to the Borderlands and how it will boost the tourism economy in the region.  The AWTG team that will be present at the Glebe Park  Christmas Market will showcase the capability to provide immediate connectivity to stalls for payment processing, sellers and visitors of the Christmas Market.  To realise the vision of a revitalised Borderlands, the Partnership, where AWTG is the project technical delivery partner, is committed to leveraging the enhanced capabilities of 5G. The Borderlands 5G Innovation Region programme is developing a variety of use cases and models for sustainable technology utilisation, with initial efforts focused on five venues in the Borderlands. AWTG will also showcase innovative use cases that will be deployed in the region and demonstrated at the Glebe Park  Christmas Market.

In support of the programme, the delivery team is reaching out to key stakeholders in the area, encompassing tourism, public services, and other sectors, to foster a deeper understanding of the 5G Innovation Regions programme. We are thrilled to announce that our team together with Borderlands team will be present throughout the event to demonstrate the benefits of advanced wireless technology in these areas and address any questions from attendees and visitors.

The Glebe Park Christmas markets feature over 60 stalls offering a diverse selection of treats, crafts, and snacks. Father Christmas and Mrs Christmas will be there, leading carol singing around the Christmas tree for a festive sing-along. Jesters will conduct a circus skills workshop, and the Grinch might be seen roaming around, ready to greet doggy visitors with a treat.

With so much to see and do, it’s worth visiting the Glebe Park Christmas Market on Sunday, 1st December 2024.
