AWTG Demonstrated its 5G Technology for the Borderlands 5G Innovation Regions (5GIR) Programme

January 16, 2025 – AWTG recently had the privilege of hosting the Borderlands 5G Innovation Regions (5GIR) Programme team at our laboratory for an exciting demonstration of advanced technological solutions. During this event, our team showcased several key innovations that align with the objectives of the DSIT-funded project – Borderlands 5GIR Project. A major highlight was the Data Platform, which provides a comprehensive solution for aggregating and visualising data to facilitate actionable insights. The team also unveiled an intuitive tourist website designed to enhance the visitor experience.

AWTG’s presentation featured intelligent AI-powered IoT devices, ideally suited for environmental and security monitoring, and demonstrated a robust Private 5G/Open RAN network infrastructure for seamless connectivity. In addition, we highlighted our E-SIM Connection, illustrating its easy integration with our advanced 5G network.

The demonstration highlighted the transformative capabilities of our AI-powered IoT devices in meeting crucial monitoring requirements. These devices are equipped for environmental monitoring, tracking vital factors such as air and water quality, including temperature, turbidity, nitrogen dioxide levels, and pH. It also assist in visitor and capacity monitoring by tracking visitor numbers, car park occupancy, and water levels across various locations. The data collected from these devices was visualised on our data platform, providing clear and actionable insights through detailed graphs and charts.

Another key aspect of the demonstration was our CORE Network, which provides the essential infrastructure for secure, reliable, and high-speed connectivity. Designed to handle significant data volumes and ensure low-latency communication, it is ideal for real-time applications such as IoT and AI-driven analytics. Our dedicated engineers also introduced our Open RAN (Radio Access Network) technology, which promotes interoperability and flexibility in network deployment. Open RAN offers a more cost-effective and scalable approach to 5G connectivity, ensuring our solutions are prepared for future demands.

The Borderlands 5GIR team witnessed firsthand how our technologies can add substantial value in areas such as environmental conservation, security enhancement, and visitor management. This demonstration underscores our commitment to driving innovation and developing effective solutions for real-world challenges. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the Borderlands 5GIR Project and other stakeholders to further advance technology and innovation.
