AWTG develops South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) Apprenticeship Levy Matchmaking Service

As part of the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) programme to promote apprenticeships and the levy matchmaking service across the region, AWTG is honoured to contribute to the initiative.

AWTG has developed the SYMCA web application for the Apprenticeship Levy Matchmaking Service. Through this service, larger employers can offer a portion of their unspent apprenticeship levy to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in financing their own apprentices. The apprenticeship levy is levied on large employers who have a pay bill that exceeds £3 million and is fixed at 0.5% of their annual total pay bill. Major employers can use their levy funds to pay for apprenticeship training, which can also help cover apprenticeship training costs for smaller businesses who pay only 5% of the apprenticeship expense.

Apprenticeships offer a variety of benefits to both employers and learners, allowing young people and adults to learn and earn as they develop on-the-job skills, pursue qualifications, and begin and progress in their careers. AWTG is thrilled to be associated with an initiative as remarkable as this.
