In 2021, AWTG were appointed as the infrastructure delivery partner for AWTG – Nokia Alliance delivers Dundee’s 5G testbed and Free public WiFi Hub. Implementing an industry leading Nokia solution, AWTG designed and deployed a 5G cellular network, along with a free public Wi-Fi service. The 5G network covers the Central Waterfront investment area of Dundee and the free public Wi-Fi service covers both that and the city centre including key commercial areas.

The 5G network provides a large-scale testbed for Dundee as a smart city and is designed to facilitate use cases around pioneering gaming applications, VR/AR and tourism.
